Waterfalls and canyons
Rastoke – a realm of walkers – a watermill village situated where the blue-green water of river Slunjčica flows into the Korana river over the 600 m of travertine barriers and falls, all of which have their own names (Buk, Hrvoje, Vilina kosa (Fairy's Hair), Konjski rep (Horse Tail)).
The first watermills were built in the 17th century, possibly even earlier. Most of the houses were built at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Basic building materials are wood and travertine.
Because of its extraordinary natural beauties and historic tradition, in 1962 the village Rastoke fell under the protection of the State Directorate for cultural and historical heritage.
